For 2010, the Volkswagen Passat undergoes several changes, most notably that its six-speed automatic transmission has been replaced with a six-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) on the 2.0T models. Rear side airbags and rear seatbelt pretensioners are also standard on all models, while specific models receive updates: sport suspension on the Highline and Highline V6; premium six-CD stereo on Comfortline and Highline; and a Technology Package available or standard on Comfortline and Highline models, along with iPod connectivity, Bluetooth and satellite radio.
The Passat is available as a four-door sedan, four-door wagon, or as the CC, a four-door sedan with coupe-like styling. Engine choices are a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, mated to a six-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), available in all models. The CC and Wagon also offer a 3.6-litre V6, which comes exclusively with six-speed automatic and 4Motion all-wheel drive.
The sedan comes in Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trim; the wagon comes in Trendline, Comfortline, Highline and Highline V6 trim; and the CC comes in Sportline, Highline and Highline V6 trim.
Features on the Trendline sedan and wagon include 16-inch alloy wheels, manual climate control, LED taillights, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, black window surrounds, variable intermittent wipers, heated washer nozzles, anti-theft alarm, cruise control, front and rear floor mats, multifunction trip computer, keyless entry, vanity mirrors, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary jack, rear seat airbags, 12-way power heated “leatherette” seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seat with armrest and pass-through, electronic parking brake, hill hold assist, four-spoke tilt and telescopic steering wheel, locking glovebox, and auto up/down windows. The Highline adds 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, sport suspension, adaptive automatic bi-xenon headlamps, power sunroof, digital compass, garage door opener, leather upholstery, and genuine Burr-Walnut or Vavona wood trim.
The Highline V6 wagon adds heated mirrors with puddle lamps and integrated turn signals, full-size alloy spare wheel, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rearview mirror, navigation system, 6.5-inch touch screen with SD card slot, 30-GB hard drive, Dynaudio upgraded sound, three-position driver’s memory, paddle shifters for transmission manual mode, and manual rear and side sunshades.
